Prepare to meet the all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO: the Czech automaker is offering the latest, fourth generation of its best-seller to Chinese customers in the form of an exclusive variant that is specifically tailored to the Chinese market. Compared to the all-new OCTAVIA introduced in Europe in 2020, the China edition has its wheelbase increased by 44 millimetres and is 64 millimetres longer. The OCTAVIA PRO’s advantage in length becomes even more apparent when compared against the third-generation model, which remains on sale in China as well. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO uses the emotive design language of the European model and features front and rear aprons in the style of the sporting OCTAVIA RS. In addition to innovative driver assistance functions it comes with a latest-generation infotainment system. The interior features a prominent 12-inch central display.

With over 1.4 million units sold in China to date, the ŠKODA OCTAVIA is a key performer for the Czech carmaker in its largest single market. This is why ŠKODA AUTO has made exclusive adjustments to the all-new OCTAVIA’s fourth generation prior to its launch in China. Marketed as the ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO, the new model for the world’s most populous country boasts a wheelbase extended by 44 millimetres to 2,730 millimetres. This increases the already generous cabin size of the European OCTAVIA even more, turning the new variant into a veritable space ace. Its overall length increases by 64 millimetres to 4,753 millimetres. Compared to the third-generation OCTAVIA, which will remain on sale in China alongside the new model, the all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO is an even more sizeable 78 millimetres longer.

Emotive design and RS-style aprons

The all-new ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO for the Chinese market uses the same emotive design language as the fourth-generation OCTAVIA in Europe. It excels with sculptural elements, precise lines and modern, clearly defined surfaces. Overall, the OCTAVIA PRO looks like a dynamic coupé. This impression is reinforced by front and rear aprons in the style of the sporting OCTAVIA RS combined with a black roof, black exterior mirrors and alloy wheels measuring up to 18 inches in diameter. The slim headlights and tail lights are sharply drawn, feature the signature ŠKODA crystalline elements and come with LED technology as standard.

Multi-level instrument panel, 12-inch display and optional head-up display

The new interior architecture of the ŠKODA OCTAVIA is dominated by a multi-level instrument panel and a free-standing central display with a differently coloured area beneath it echoing the contours of the ŠKODA grille. The OCTAVIA PRO’s touchscreen display has a screen diagonal of 12 inches. With their permanent internet connection, the latest-generation infotainment systems provide access to numerous mobile online services. The optional Virtual Cockpit with a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches is another digital and customisable system. It can be complemented by an optional head-up-display projecting items like the current speed, navigation prompts, detected road signs and activated driver assistance systems onto the windscreen, in the driver’s immediate field of vision. The multifunction sport steering wheel comes with three spokes as well as buttons and knurled scroll wheels. The OCTAVIA PRO also includes many sophisticated comfort features, such as front seats that offer ventilation in addition to seat heating and electric adjustment. Electric tailgate operation is also on board.

Innovative assistance systems, superior road safety and DSG with shift-by-wire technology

The ŠKODA OCTAVIA PRO features innovative assistance systems such as an exit warning function that tells occupants opening a door whether there are other vehicles or cyclists approaching from behind. The new model provides drivers with lane-keeping and lane-change assistance and if necessary will initiate an emergency stop. It also comes with Adaptive Cruise Control. Safe handling is ensured by an advanced multi-link suspension from the Volkswagen Group. Power is provided by an efficient 1.4 TSI engine with 110 kW (150 PS) and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG with shift-by-wire technology. This means that the driver’s gear selection is communicated electronically rather than mechanically to the transmission, via a small rocker switch on the centre console.

Iconic model with Chinese lucky number in its name

The name OCTAVIA is derived from the Latin “octavia” (“the eighth”). The original OCTAVIA introduced in 1959 was the eighth ŠKODA model to feature a state-of-the-art independent suspension for all wheels and also the Czech carmaker’s eighth model since the Second World War. In 1996, ŠKODA introduced the modern OCTAVIA, which has since gone on to become the brand’s most popular and iconic model, with a production total of over 6.8 million. In China, the number 8 also represents infinity and is considered particularly lucky, making it many Chinese people’s favourite number.

The two millionth sports utility vehicle (SUV) rolled off the production line at ŠKODA AUTO’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav today. The milestone vehicle was also the 250,000th ŠKODA KAMIQ. The carmaker’s delivery numbers in 2020 demonstrate just how successful ŠKODA’s current SUVs are – the ŠKODA KODIAQ, KAROQ and KAMIQ SUV model series amount to around 40 per cent of all vehicles produced by the brand worldwide.

Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Production and Logistics, said: “The mark of two million SUVs produced, ‘made by ŠKODA’, is a powerful testament to our team’s great personal commitment and expertise. The milestone vehicle is also the 250,000th ŠKODA KAMIQ – which makes this production achievement a very special occasion for us.”

With the world premiere of the ŠKODA YETI in 2009, the brand laid the foundation for its success in the SUV segment. By the end of its manufacture in 2017, 685,500 units of the popular model had rolled off the production line. ŠKODA started its SUV campaign in the same year and presented not just one but two models: the KODIAQ and the KAROQ. Featuring the classic ŠKODA qualities – an emotive design, generous amounts of space and a high level of practicality – both SUVs seamlessly built on the success of the ŠKODA YETI. To date, the carmaker has produced approximately 593,600 units of the ŠKODA KODIAQ and 454,800 ŠKODA KAROQs.

In 2019, the Czech brand added the ŠKODA KAMIQ to its model line-up, completing the lower end of its SUV range. In this dynamic growth segment of city SUVs, the KAMIQ brings together the best of these vehicles, such as increased ground clearance and a raised sitting position, with the agility of a compact car and ŠKODA’s characteristic emotive design. These features are extremely well received by customers all around the world, and so the two millionth ŠKODA SUV is also the 250,000th ŠKODA KAMIQ produced. The milestone vehicle, the KAMIQ, is available in the trim levels Active, Ambition and Style. The line-up also includes the ŠKODA ŠKODA KAMIQ MONTE CARLO* with sporty design features. And the ŠKODA KAMIQ SCOUTLINE boasting a rugged off-road look has been added to the range early in 2020.

A very special SUV model – the all-electric ŠKODA ENYAQ iV – celebrated its world premiere in September 2020: it is the Czech car manufacturer’s first model to be based on Volkswagen Group’s modular MEB electric car platform. By launching this SUV, ŠKODA has taken an important step in the implementation of its electromobility strategy. Furthermore, the ENYAQ iV is the only MEB-based vehicle in Europe to be built outside Germany. The car is available with rear- or all-wheel drive, three battery sizes and five power variants ranging between 109 and 225 kW (148 and 306 PS), providing a range of more than 520 km** that is perfectly suitable for everyday use. To date, ŠKODA has produced approximately 1,100 units of the ENYAQ iV at its Mladá Boleslav plant.

In the Czech Republic, ŠKODA AUTO produces its SUV models at two sites. The KAMIQ, ENYAQ iV and the KAROQ are built at the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. The KAROQ also rolls off the production line in Kvasiny, as does the KODIAQ. Outside of ŠKODA’s homeland, the carmaker manufactures its SUV models in China, Russia, and India, as well as in Ukraine and Slovakia. In China, the brand’s largest single market worldwide, ŠKODA offers market-specific derivatives as well – the KAMIQ GT and the KODIAQ GT – making China the only market in which the current ŠKODA model portfolio includes five SUVs in total. This month will see the world premiere of the ŠKODA KUSHAQ in India. It is the carmaker’s first production model based on the MQB-A0-IN platform – an MQB variant specially adapted by ŠKODA AUTO for the local market. The ŠKODA KUSHAQ is the first of several compact models as part of the INDIA 2.0 project and marks the start of a new era for the company in India. The official launch of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ is set for 18 March 2021.

ŠKODA has released two design sketches to give a detailed preview of the new KUSHAQ. The design of the midsize SUV for the Indian market draws inspiration from the bold look of the ŠKODA VISION IN concept car. ŠKODA AUTO has adapted the MQB-A0-IN version of the Volkswagen Group's Modular Transverse Toolkit specifically for India. As part of the INDIA 2.0 product campaign, it is the first of four models from the ŠKODA and Volkswagen brands to be manufactured locally in India. The world premiere of the ŠKODA KUSHAQ will take place on 18 March 2021.

The first design sketch shows the powerful front of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, whose name is derived from the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. The word ‘Kushak’ means king or emperor. The sharply cut, two-part front headlights, which extend to the wide ŠKODA grille, create a prominent appearance. The impressive front bumper with underride protection emphasises the athletic look of the SUV.

The second sketch shows the rear of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, which has a clear structure and is framed by an elongated roof spoiler and a rugged rear diffuser in the bumper. The taillights of the midsize SUV feature the brand’s trademark crystalline structures, and the ŠKODA lettering appears in block capitals on the tailgate.

In terms of technology, the ŠKODA KUSHAQ and the other upcoming volume models are based on the locally developed and produced MQB-A0-IN platform. This already complies with the new, stricter safety and emission requirements in India. With a planned 95 per cent localisation level for the new vehicles, the technical development is being carried out at ŠKODA AUTO’s Technology Centre in Pune.

Compact yet spacious: the ŠKODA KUSHAQ

With the launch of the KUSHAQ, ŠKODA AUTO is entering the subcontinent’s rapidly growing mid size SUV segment for the first time, and is now offering a third SUV in India alongside the KODIAQ and KAROQ. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the ŠKODA KUSHAQ is ideally suited for use in India’s metropolises. Its long wheelbase of 2,651 mm, rugged look and large wheels make it look much larger than it actually is. Boasting versatility, as is typical for ŠKODA, plenty of space for five occupants and a large boot, the SUV’s interior is impressive too. Depending on the trim level, the ŠKODA KUSHAQ features LED headlights and LED daytime running lights as standard. The tail and brake lights are also fitted with striking and instantaneously responsive LEDs.

Choice of two powerful and efficient TSI engines

The all-new ŠKODA KUSHAQ is powered by one of two efficient TSI petrol engines: a 1.0- or 1.5 litre TSI, both of which are coupled with front-wheel drive. Depending on the trim level, the KUSHAQ is fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 7-speed DSG. In keeping with the benefits of TSI technology, both engines will offer impressive performance yet low fuel consumption.

Air conditioning as standard, and state-of-the-art infotainment systems

The elevated seating position typical of an SUV allows for excellent all-round visibility. The height of the driver’s seat and the position of the steering wheel can be adjusted to suit the driver’s individual preferences. The state-of-the-art infotainment systems come with a central touchscreen. To ensure a pleasant interior temperature, each car features air conditioning or automatic Climatronic, depending on the trim level.

High level of safety and assistance systems for optimum comfort

The ŠKODA KUSHAQ offers excellent active and passive safety as well as numerous assistance systems. Occupants are protected by up to six airbags – for the driver and front passenger as standard, and optional front side airbags and curtain airbags – while ESC ensures increased driving safety. Hill-Hold Control, rain and light sensors and a cruise control system further improve both safety and comfort. The car can also be fitted with a tyre pressure monitor to keep an eye on the air pressure.

With the launch of the ŠKODA ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV, the Czech carmaker adds a long-established model variant to the new all-electric SUV range built in Mladá Boleslav. Black body applications, large alloy wheels and a lowered sports chassis provide the ŠKODA ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV with a self-assured appearance and emphasise its dynamic driving characteristics. Sports seats with integrated headrests, a three-spoke multifunction leather sports steering wheel and carbon-effect trims set the tone in the interior. There will be a choice of three powertrain variants for the ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV. Both the ENYAQ iV 60 producing 132 kW and the ENYAQ iV 80 with an 82-kWh battery that delivers 150 kW and boasts a range of more than 520 km* in the WLTP cycle are rear-wheel drive. The ENYAQ iV 80x features two electric motors with a combined output of 195 kW and all-wheel drive. This variant will complete the range later this year.

SPORTLINE – for ŠKODA, this addition to a model’s name traditionally means a sporty look and dynamic handling. With the ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV, ŠKODA introduces this model variant to the line-up of its first all-electric SUV. Customers will be able to choose from three powertrain options. The ŠKODA ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV 60’s electric motor drives the rear wheels, produces 132 kW and has a maximum torque of 310 Nm. Its battery has a capacity of 62 kWh (58 kWh net) and allows for a range of more than 400 km* in the WLTP cycle. The ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV 80 is equipped with the larger 82-kWh battery (77 kWh net) and can cover more than 520 km* in the WLTP cycle. Its rear motor produces 150 kW. This battery is also fitted in the ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV 80x. Together with a second electric motor, this SUV features all-wheel drive, has a power output of 195 kW and delivers a maximum torque of 425 Nm. This variant’s maximum range is more than 500 km* in the WLTP cycle.
*preliminary data

Excellent driving dynamics with rear- or all-wheel drive and a sports chassis

Regardless of whether it is fitted with rear- or all-wheel drive, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV boasts a high maximum torque, which – due to the electric motor – is available immediately when stepping on the accelerator pedal. The SUV therefore offers excellent driving dynamics. This is particularly evident in the ENYAQ iV SPORTLINE thanks to its model-specific sports chassis, which comes as standard. It has been lowered by 15 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear. The top speed for all three powertrain variants is 160 km/h. High-quality design details emphasise the sporty look of the ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV – both inside and out. The SPORTLINE variant will roll off the production line at ŠKODA’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav, same as the ENYAQ iV. It is the only model series in Europe based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform to be built outside Germany.

Sporty black body applications and full LED Matrix headlights

The SPORTLINE’s many gloss black design features make the powerful ŠKODA ENYAQ iV look even more dynamic. The striking ŠKODA grille, window frames, roof rails and diffuser in the rear bumper all contribute to this, as do the ŠKODA block lettering and the badges on the tailgate. The robust side skirts are body-coloured. The ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV comes with a model-specific front apron and SPORTLINE badges on the front wings. Large, burnished 20-inch Vega or 21-inch Betria alloy wheels enhance the SUV’s self-assured appearance, both with excusive SPORTLINE design. The ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV comes with full LED Matrix headlights as standard. Each Matrix high-beam module features 24 LEDs, which can be controlled individually and enable the driver to have the high beam on at all times without dazzling other road users. This intelligent technology automatically turns off individual segments of the light beam when the camera on the windscreen detects vehicles, as well as people and objects, reflecting the light.

SPORTLINE-specific Design Selection option

With the launch of the ENYAQ iV, ŠKODA introduced a new interior concept – the Design Selections. These are inspired by modern living environments and use perfectly coordinated colours and materials. The interior designers have created a model-specific Design Selection for the ENYAQ SPORTLINE iV. The upholstery and the roof lining are predominantly black. The dashboard is upholstered in a black synthetic leather with grey contrasting stitching and features carbon-effect trims, which provide visual highlights and can also be found on the door panels. The floor mats with sport grey piping are in perfect coordination with the rest of the interior. This SPORTLINE Design Selection also includes exclusive black sports seats with integrated headrests. These are upholstered in Suedia microfibre and feature grey piping. The three-spoke multifunction leather sports steering wheel comes as standard and allows numerous vehicle functions to be controlled with its user-friendly buttons and knurled wheels. The leather-covered steering wheel rim features grey contrasting stitching, while the lower spoke has a badge bearing the SPORTLINE lettering. The pedal covers come in an aluminium look and further enhance the SPORTLINE Design Selection.

KODA gives a first preview of the fourth-generation FABIA. In a silhouette image, the roofline hints at the new proportions of the small car, which is based on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit MQB-A0 for the first time. This platform enhances the interior space and supports the use of state-of-the-art assistance systems and connectivity features. The new FABIA is powered by the latest generation of petrol engines, making it perfect for young families and recent graduates or as an ideal second car. The world premiere of the new ŠKODA FABIA is set for spring 2021.

With the changeover to the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit MQB-A0, the ŠKODA FABIA is larger than its predecessor in all dimensions. For example, the boot volume, which was already one of the FABIA’s highlights, has grown by a further 50 litres. Thanks to an even more rigid body structure, the MQB-A0 also brings further improvements in passive safety as well as the option of installing numerous modern assistance systems, which were previously only available in higher vehicle classes.

Modern petrol engines ensure high efficiency and long range
ŠKODA has opted for state-of-the-art petrol engines for the fourth-generation FABIA. All the engines come from the Volkswagen Group’s EVO engine generation and combine high efficiency with low emissions. The new ŠKODA FABIA always comes with front-wheel drive, with a manual gearbox or automatic 7-speed DSG. This means the small car is optimally equipped for journeys in the city as well as for long distances.
